Bio-Data/Resume/Curriculum Vitae
1. What They Are (three related but different)
| Document | Length | Content | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bio-data (Biodata) | 1–2 pages, personal + factual | Personal details (name, DOB, family, address) + education, experience — older term, less professional | Government jobs, matrimonial (cultural) |
| Resume | 1 page (for freshers, maybe 2), tailored to specific job | Contact, Objective (optional), Education, Skills, Projects, Experience, Achievements, Activities — concise, skill-focused | Private sector jobs, internships — most common for B.Tech |
| Curriculum Vitae (CV) | 2+ pages, detailed, chronological | Comprehensive — education, research, publications, conferences, awards, experience — academic | Academic, research, higher studies, faculty positions |
For B.Tech, resume is expected (not CV).
2. Format of Resume (exam expects chronology — memorize 8 sections)

3. Tips
- Tailor to job description (keywords).
- Quantify: "Improved API latency by 30%".
- One page for freshers; PDF, not Word, with readable font.
- Avoid biodata-style personal details (father's name) for MNC.
4. Exam Points
- Distinguish bio-data vs resume vs CV (length, content, use) — 5-7 marks, very frequent (the most common resume question).
- Give resume format with 8 sections — 7-10 marks, very frequent (almost certain to ask to write a resume).
- Mention one-page resume for B.Tech — 3 marks.
- Show objective line — 3 marks.
