Relationship
1. What Relationship Is (in UHV)
Relationship = connection between two Selves (conscious beings), not between bodies or roles. It is based on feelings (trust, respect, affection, care, guidance, reverence, glory, gratitude, love) and evaluation of the Self, not on physical facility or post.
Formally: Relationship = co-existence of two Selves with mutual fulfilment via right feeling and right understanding.
2. Key Features
- Relationship is between Selves: Bodies are instruments; if you relate via body/post, relationship is temporary (post changes).
- Feelings define relationship: e.g., trust is founding feeling — without trust, no relationship sustains. Respect is right evaluation.
- Relationship requires right understanding of the other Self as like me (wants happiness, etc.).
3. Why Relationships Fail Without Right Understanding
Assuming relationship is exchange of facility ("you give me facility, I stay") leads to expectation without fulfilment and unhappiness when facility fluctuates.
4. Worked Illustration
Parent-child: Body relation (care via facility: food) but Self relation (guidance, love) persists even when facility not needed.
Friendship vs transaction: Transaction ends when facility ends; friendship (trust) persists.
Check: Do I want relationship where other values me only for my bike/phone? No → naturally accept Self-based.
5. Exam Points
- Define relationship as Self-Self, not body-body — 5 marks, very frequent.
- List that relationship is feeling-based (trust etc.) — 3-5 marks.
- Distinguish relationship vs facility exchange — 5 marks, frequent.
