Interconnectedness and mutual fulfilment among the four orders of nature
1. The Four Orders of Nature (with characteristics)
| Order | Units | Activity | Innateness | Natural Characteristic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Material (Padarth) | soil, water, air, metals | composition/decomposition (form/break) | existence (to exist) | constitution |
| Plant/Bio (Pran) | plants, trees | composition/decomposition + growth (respiration) | existence + growth | nurture / worsen |
| Animal | animals, birds | (material + plant's growth) + movement + will to live in Self? Actually animal Self is not developed as human — shows selection based on taste | existence + growth + will to live | cruelty / non-cruelty (but animal follows need-based) |
| Human | humans | understanding, desiring, thinking, expecting (Self) + body activities | existence + growth + will to live + knowledge, assumption, recognition, fulfilment (knowing) | perseverance, bravery, generosity |
2. Interconnectedness — How They Relate
- Material → Plant: soil/water provide nutrients to plants.
- Plant → Animal: plants give food, oxygen to animals.
- Animal → Material: animals enrich soil via excreta/decomposition.
- Human → all: with right understanding, human can enrich all three (plantation, preservation, knowledge) — or exploit.
3. Mutual Fulfilment Means
Each order fulfils the other and gets fulfilled:
- Soil fulfilled by decomposition of plant/animal; plant fulfilled by soil nutrients; animal fulfilled by plant food; human fulfilled by all three when rightly participating.
This is not struggle but co-existence — nature's design is mutual, not competitive at core (competition is human misinterpretation).
4. Worked Example
Human with right understanding: plants crops that enrich soil (legumes fix nitrogen) → soil → crop → human → compost returns to soil ⇒ cycle.
Without: monoculture depletes soil → need fertilizer → pollution.
5. Exam Points
- List four orders with activity/innateness — 7-10 marks, very frequent (the most asked four-orders question).
- Show interconnectedness with diagram (material→plant→animal→human) — 5-7 marks, very frequent.
- Explain mutual fulfilment with one example loop — 5 marks, frequent.
- Mention human's unique role to enrich with knowledge — 3-5 marks.
